What Do You Keep In Your Golf Locker? (Learn What You Need)

In golf there is a ton of different equipment to wrap your head around, but what equipment or things should you keep in your golf locker, ready to use at any time?

Keep a couple of golf shoes, a few extra shirts, rain jacket, pants, underwear, socks, towels, golf gloves, hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, a belt, protein bars, water a cap, batteries for golf electronics, and a dozen balls. Bring anything that prepares you to play at any point for any weather.

Keep everything in your locker that could save the day when it comes to playing Golf, a rain jacket for when it rains is the perfect example.

I will explain why other things you should keep in your Golf locker, and what every Golf bag needs, read on to find out.

What Should You Keep In Your Golf Locker?

All Weather Clothing

Picture this, your enjoying a game of Golf in perfect weather conditions, when you feel a slight raindrop on your face, you think nothing of it until this raindrop becomes rain which becomes heavy rain which equals a horrible wet dripping game of Golf when your clothes are ruined.

ALWAYS pack a rain jacket in your club locker, you can get an Adidas Golf windbreaker for a bargain on Amazon here.

Having a rain jacket gives you the flexibility of being able to retreat to the clubhouse in heavy rain, change clothes and get back onto the golf course within minutes, this isn’t possible if you didn’t come prepared.

It’s wise to bring a few pairs of shirts, pants, socks, a sweater, and even underwear depending on how wet you got before it rained, for stylish and sleek insulated pants you can use for golfing and skiing get the Jessie Kidden waterproof pants for a great price on Amazon.

Preparing for the summer is just as important, it can be dangerous walking for hours in the harsh summer sun without adequate protection. Ensuring your golf locker has a pair of sunglasses, sunscreen, and a summer hat protects you and keeps you safe from burning.

Also, keep some extra tees and golf markers and have two pairs of golf shoes, one for the locker and for home so you don’t have to bring shoes with you everywhere you go!

I remember the terror of potentially losing my glasses and not being able to see, so if you need glasses make sure to keep a spare pair in case you lose yours on the Golf course, or spare contact lenses and lens solution.

Things You Can Easily Forget

It’s smart to prepare for every scenario, if your a forgetful person(like me) having some extra golf balls, or a extra pair of gloves always ready in your locker just makes sense.

Golf electronics like a rangefinder can run out of batteries, so having spare batteries or a charging cable always ready and waiting to charge your Golf electronics is a smart practice.

Have Non Perishable Food & Water

Most people don’t eat healthily, so keeping some food that doesn’t go off like protein bars is key to keep your blood sugar levels and energy up as you play Golf. Get some high-quality protein bars with tons of different flavors including cookie dough and chocolate chip from Amazon.

Up to 60% of the human body is made up of water so making sure your hydrated on the course is key, keep spare water ideally in a Kanteen not a water bottle so it stays uncontaminated.

I reccomend Klean Kanteen I’ve used them on my travels and have nothing but good to say about them, get one for a good price on Amazon.

Do you play with coloured Golf balls? To know what are the best colors to use and what your missing out on only using white balls see my article.

  • Sharpie markers
  • Cheap Golf balls
  • Scorecard
  • Pen/ Pencil

Up To 14 Golf Clubs

It’s a bit obvious but you should bring up to 14 clubs with you in your golf club, I recommend a beginner having a hybrid as it gives you consistency to hit 200 yards in those tricky par 4’s.

Coloured Golf Tees

Colored golf tees are not just for beginners, they make it more obvious where a ball is positioned on a T and make your drive far more consistent. If you swap from using white tees to colored you will see a big difference.

You also want enough golf tees to last a round of golf, no one wants to be that guy who asks tees of his playing partners when they should have brought their own. Get a pack of 100 colored golf tees from Amazon here.

Ever wonder if a beginner should use bladed irons? Learn the answer and the main differences between blades and cavity backs in my post.

Sharpie Markers

If everyone in your golf party uses the same Pro V1s how will anyone know which ball is there’s? A sharpie marker allows you to identify a ball with your initials or something distinctive like a smiley face to end all confusion.

Cheap Golf Balls

Have you ever run out of balls on the course? It’s a common occurrence across all courses on the world, so keeping a couple dozen spare golf balls is important just in case.

If your a beginner these balls don’t have to be expensive, even find some balls on the course that you can still use on the course.

Curious when you should throw away golf balls? They last longer than you fact, learn the facts in my article.

Scorecard

Every golfer should keep a scorecard in their back pocket or bag. You can track things like the number of fairways hit, greens in regulation, and how many puts you make per hole.

It identifies your stats and helps work out your weaknesses so you can turn them into strengths, get a leather Callaway scorecard holder from Amazon.

Of course, you will need a pen or pencil to keep track of these scores. Don’t be that person who acts for a pencil to track golf scores when you should have one attached to your scorecard!

Do you get painful blisters whilst playing golf? To know whats causing them and how to prevent blisters see my article.

Golf Divot Repair Tool

Have you ever hit the green with a beautiful shot, only to see the green ruined by tons of divots? With a pitch marker, you can repair these holes, which is good for your game and the groundskeeper!

It isn’t hard to use, you can see the above video for a guideline. I recommend the golf divot repair tool from Amazon it’s cheap with good ratings and comes with a magnetic ball marker that pops right off.

Green Marker

In golf, we need a way to mark a ball. You can do this using the magnetic marker from a golf divot repair tool or use a small coin to mark your ball, just remember to pick it up when you’re done with it.

A Spare Glove

You don’t need to wear a glove in Golf, but most people do to help with callouses, pressure and grip in wet conditions.

It’s smart to keep a spare glove in your bag at all times, especially if you live in a country like the UK where the weather can change.

Curious on why golfers wear one gloves and not two? See the truth in my article.

Enough Food And Drink For 3-4 Hours

A game of Golf lasts around 3-4 hours, this is a long time without eating or drinking any water especially if you’re in a hot country or walking instead of using a golf cart.

Bring light snacks that immediate energy like fruit of protein bars, stay away from candy. Water is a must, either put water bottles in your bag or better yet keep fresh water in a Kanteen.

Adjustment Tool

This only applies if you have adjustable clubs like the Taylor Made hybrids it’s smart to bring a tool like this one from Amazon as the clubs can get loose during play needing to be tightened up.

Range Finder

Ideally, keep a range finder in your bag to understand how far you hit a golf ball. Range finders don’t have to be expensive, get the Gogogo laser range finder with all the bells & whistles you need at an unbeatable price fro Amazon.

You can use a free app on your phone, a good one is the Golf GPS Rangefinder scorecard on the app store.

Other Essentials

Anything like spare bandaids or suncream is important to keep in case of emergencies that can happen on the golf course, you don’t want to play with a big open cut on your hand that you got from a tree or bush, would you?

Do you find yourself wasting time on the driving range? Learn how to make your time more efficient to get excellent practice in my article.

Wet Weather Gear

You can keep wet weather equipment in your golf locker, but what if you don’t have one or you’re far from the clubhouse? Rain jackets like the Adidas windbreaker don’t take up much space and can easily fit in your golf bag.

Other wet equipment like mitts for the winter and a wet glove or umbrella are good choices.

Towel

A towel is perfect for every occasion, are you sweating from a hot summers day? Use a towel to wipe the sweat clean off, what if you have sweaty hands and it’s affecting your swing? The towel is here for you.

Towels also can be used to clean your club faces but a club brush like this one from Amazon does a better job.

No matter what season are where you live, a towel is a versatile piece of golfing equipment that should be in everyones bag.

Should all your Golf grips be the same? Find out why it’s important in my post here.
